In Tempest Rising, units and structures can perform abilities on the battlefield. Abilities have wide range of effects, ranging from changing weapons to activating an attack that deals a status effect.

Special abilities

Special abilities, or simply abilities, are abilities that require player input to take effect. There may be a Production time cooldown between repeated uses of an ability. Some abilities may have a cost and tech requirements before they can be used.

There are three types of special abilities:

  • Instant effect: the ability instantly takes effect upon activation.
  • Togglable: a pair of abilities where the unit may change modes, such as switching weapons.
  • Contextual: the ability requires a target to be used.

Passive abilities

Passive abilities, or passives, do not require player input and instead take effect when the unit or structure is engaged in combat. Each passive ability is associated with a damage type that a unit can deal.

TR Ability Progressive Stun Icon.png Progressive Stun Unit's attacks induce the Riot Suppression Riot Suppression status, which reduces the targeted infantry's attack rate and move speed by 10%. This effect stacks up to 5 times, where at the 5th time the affected infantry can no longer attack.
TR Ability Networked Icon.png Networked Networked units gain bonus range and damage per shot against Marked Marked enemy targets.[1]
TR Ability Voltaic Reaction Icon.png Voltaic Reaction Voltaic attack instantly destroys vehicles affected by Tempest Overflow Tempest Overflow.

Perks

Perks are passive traits that are typically always in effect, regardless if the unit or structure is in combat or not. Some perks may be active or inactive depending on if the unit is in a togglable mode, such as the Comms Rig.
