This is a composite timeline of all events that occur during and surrounding Tempest Rising.
1962
- The Cuban Missile Crisis erupts between the United States and the Soviet Union. The crisis escalates into World War 3, resulting in a nuclear exchange.[1]
Post-World War 3
- The Union of Allied Nations is established to prevent another world conflict from occurring.
- A mysterious vining plant called "Tempest" begins emerging from the fissures of the Earth's crust worldwide, with much of the plant's growth concentrated around areas of high nuclear radiation.
- Humanity discovers and realizes the potential of Tempest as a valuable resource. Human civilization rebuilds.
1988
- The Global Defense Forces is formed from the remnants of the Allied Nations.[2]
1989
- First use of the Hammerhand combat dropship.
1997
- After a few years of uneasy peace between the Tempest Dynasty and the GDF, the Dynasty launches offensives to disrupt GDF's Tempest harvesting operations across Europe. This sets off the Tempest War, where the GDF and Tempest Dynasty engage in open warfare to control the Tempest resource.[3]
Tempest War
- The Veti emerges, prompting the GDF to divert all resources from Tempest research towards ending the conflict against the Dynasty.[4]
