Tiers in Tempest Rising refer to the technology level of a base and the requirements needed to produce a unit or structure. At higher tiers, more advanced and powerful units are available.
Though it may be attractive for players to focus only on the highest tier units, units of all tiers are intended to have their use on the battlefield throughout a game's session.[1]
Tier levels
There are roughly three tiers:
- Tier 1: The most lowest tier, it is all basic that is required for production. Units in this tier include basic infantry and light vehicles used in the early game.
- Tier 2: Requires an additional technology structure to access. This tier generally allows for more advanced units, structures, and support powers to be deployed.
- The GDF unlocks this tier from building the Satellite Uplink. Tier "2.5" units and powers are unlocked via pods upgraded at the Satellite Uplink.
- The Dynasty unlocks this tier from building the Radar Station or Specialist Bureau. Tier "2.5" units and powers are unlocked via upgrading the Construction Yard to a Bastion.
- Tier 3: Requires an expensive high-technology structure to access. This tier allows for the most advanced units, structures, and support powers into the late game.
- The GDF unlocks this tier from building the Data Core. Tier "3.5" units and powers are unlocked via pods upgraded at the Data Core.
- The Dynasty unlocks this tier from upgrading their Power Plant, Barracks, Machine Shop, or Radar Station following the Bastion upgrade.
