THQ Nordic GmbH is an Austrian video game publisher based in Vienna and is the primary publishing arm of Embracer Group. Originally founded as Nordic Games in June 2011, the company was renamed to THQ Nordic in August 2016 after its parent company had acquired the "THQ" trademark in 2014.[2]

When Tempest Rising was announced, THQ Nordic was a co-publisher of the game alongside 3D Realms.[3][4] During the release of the full demo on 28 August 2023, THQ Nordic was removed as a publisher from the Steam store page leaving 3D Realms as the sole publisher.[5][6] Following Embracer's sale of 3D Realms' parent Saber Interactive in March 2024,[7] all references to Tempest Rising were removed from THQ Nordic's site.
