Third World War
The Third World War was a global nuclear war that erupted in the escalation of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. It resulted in mass casualties and large swaths of land became irradiated from the subsequent fallout.
The United States and the Soviet Union called for a ceasefire a few days into the war. The Union of Allied Nations was established to prevent a conflict of such scale from ever occurring again.[1] The Allied Nations was later succeeded by the Global Defense Forces in 1988.[2]
In the decades following the nuclear holocaust, an anomalous vining plant began emerging from the fissures around the world, with more concentrated growth in highly irradiated zones. Named the "Tempest", it was realized as a potential efficient fuel source in the wake of the global energy crisis.
Domovoy Molchalin, who was a colonel during the war,[3] founded the Tempest Dynasty from the desperate nations of Eurasia as the Tempest is viewed as their birthright.
By 1997, a new conflict would emerge between the GDF and the Dynasty over control of the Tempest.
