Dynasty Power Plant

The Power Plant supplies Power power for structures of the Tempest Dynasty in Tempest Rising.

Background

While the GDF work to refine the efficiency of their Tempest power generation efforts with small-footprint containerized power plants, the Dynasty’s efforts are focused on finding quick ways to create high output. As such, the Corps of Machinists produced a potent but unstable generator that utilizes weapons-grade Tempest electrical reactions to sustain a high rate of energy output.

The instability of Dynasty Power Plants was discovered to be a potential, somewhat risky benefit, allowing the energy to be beamed to nearby factories or defenses for efficiency gains, though this "Distribution Mode" has a damaging impact on any facility making use of the effect, degrading its structural integrity over time.

Power Plants can be upgraded in the field via support from a nearby Construction Yard, using more borrowed GDF technology to better contain and control the Tempest energy and convert more of its output into electrical potential rather than wasted heat.[1]

Game structure

The Power Plant is one of the few Dynasty structures that expands the build radius.[2] Each Power Plant provides 100 units of power.

The Dynasty Power Plant has the ability to switch from its normal power production mode to a distribution mode, where it will accelerate unit production and buff combat capabilities of nearby structures[3] at the cost of damaging them over time.[4] Production structures gain a 20% increase to production times, stacking up to twice with multiple power plants in distribution range, making 40% the maximum possible production time bonus from distribution. However, if the building is under around 30% health the distribution mode effect will no longer apply.[5]

With a Bastion Construction Yard, the Power Plant can be upgraded into a Reactor to increase its power output. The upgrade also unlocks the tier 3 Physicist specialist.
