Skycrane
The HI-38 Skycrane is a tandem-rotor helicopter used as GDF's heavy troop transport in Tempest Rising.
Background
HI-38 Skycranes are the heaviest tandem rotor helicopters in use in the world during the GDF/Dynasty conflict of 1997. The designed for military usage, and modern variants have interchangeable pods that fit underneath for troop transport and cargo movement. During current hostilities, most Skycranes feature a bottom-fitted quick access troop transport container allowing for record breaking times in loading and unloading personnel under the most harrowing combat situations.
A recent addition to many models of Skycrane is a visual/radar 'smokescreen' countermeasure of suspended particles that cause them to become effectively undetectable for a handful of critical seconds, allowing them to get into or out of a hot zone intact.[1]
Game unit
The Skycrane is the GDF's main air transport unit, being used to move infantry and vehicles around the map quickly. It has 10 transport slots; infantry take up 1 slot and vehicles take up 4 slots.[2]
As an ability, the Skycrane can deploy a smokescreen to render it invisible to the enemy temporarily, allowing it to enter or escape an engagement intact.
