The Global Defense Forces were introduced in Bombshell, released in 2016.
We first encounter the GDF as Shelly Harrison is re-enlisted, as the White House attacked by an unknown extra terrestrial faction dubbed "Kyrr".
Taking place in 2105, this is the second time Shelly joins the GDF. She started her career at the age of 18 and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2096 Shelly becomes the leader Global Defense Force's domestic defense squad in Neo D.C.
In 2097, Shelly meets Dr. Jadus Heskel for the first time, in Ion Fury, ultimately saving Neo D.C. from his cyborg army attack.
Following the events of Ion Fury (and soon, Ion Fury: Aftershock), Shelly ultimately ends her time with the GDF, making the ultimate sacrifice (No Spoilers!).
Years later (2101), Phantom Fury takes place, just a few years before the events of Bombshell.
However, the story of the Global Defense Force has its roots back in 1988. The GDF were formed from the remnants of the Allied Nations, run by a Board of Directors, though GDF were infiltrated by a secret organization, who installed advisors under the Directors.
Taking place in 1997, the war between the Global Defense Forces and the Tempest Dynasty begins (Tempest Rising), setting a chain of events in motion, which ultimately changes the world.
